Against UN employees, dozens of sexual harassment cases are registered

The United Nations has registered 31 new cases of sexual harassment in 3 months, of which at least half of the cases include the United Nations Employees or Assistant Organizations of the San Fernardo Agency. Between July and September 12 new cases were reported in six peacekeeping missions in the Central African Republic, Congo, Haiti, Liberia, Mali and South Sudan.

UNHCR has filed 15 charges. On the other hand, 3 new cases include immigration personnel of the world body and one charge is related to UNICEF. According to information from the United Nations, a charge related to the UNHCR was found correct and two cases are under investigation. Other matters are being reviewed.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Gutteras has made the main objective of its tenure to stop cases of sexual assault by peacekeepers and employees. United Nations spokesman Stephen Duzarik said that the United Nations chief was certainly sad that such incidents are happening continuously.
