Candidates can now object to the questions of Union Public Service Commission

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission will now allow candidates to object to the examination questions. UPSC gave information about this in the notification issued on its official website.

UPSC conducts examinations for many central services like the Civil Service Examination, Medical Service Examination, Economic and Statistical Service and Engineering Service Examination. According to the notification, one exam will be given for one week, which will be valid for every seven days from the day after the examination is completed. On 6th day of the seventh day, the candidate will be able to register objection to misleading and inconsistent questions asked in the examination by the Commission. The exam day for the examinations to be held for two or more days will be the most important day for lodging the objection. For example, if a paper exam is held on March 1, then the candidate will be able to file objection till 8 March evening 6.

Objection to be taken online only

According to the notification of UPSC, objections to questions can be submitted online. Candidates can send their objections to the UPSC email examination-upsc@gov.in. Post-sent or handwritten objections will not be valid. Also, after the seven days time window closure, the UPSC will not accept the objections sent. A common practice in the country is the estimate of competition and entrance examinations.

Supreme Court dismisses petition
The Supreme Court had dismissed a petition filed by UPSC examinations in August seeking the removal of misleading and incorrect questions and giving grace marks to the UPSC preliminary examinations 2017. The court had said that they are not appearing in the hearing because they are rejecting this petition. The bench of the Supreme Court had said that the candidates who filed the petition had not lodged a complaint against UPSC for correct answers. More than 4.6 lakh candidates took part in the UPSC Prelim examination in 2017.
