The graduate degree holder teachers who are studying upto 5th standard across the country, will now have to compulsorily compile six months of compulsory bridge course. Without this, they will be considered untrained. The Central Government has entrusted the responsibility of conducting Bridge Course to NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling).
Actually, the Central Government had amended the Right to Information Act (RTE) in the past. After this, untrained teachers studying in government, aided and private schools have given their last chance till March 31, 2019 for training. More than 14 lakh untrained teachers are employed in different states of the country. Out of this there are more than two lakh teachers who are studying up to fifth students after BEd. As the BEd degree holder teacher can read only students from class VIII, in this way the teachers who are studying upto 5th standard have come under the category of untrained teachers.
Behind the bridge course, it is being argued that during the B.Ed degree, the subject is studied, but teachers should have an Elementary Education course to understand the mood of the students of primary classes.
